best transport from Grand Junction

Hi,
We’re plannning to catch the train to Grand Junction from Denver. Is anyone familiar with the best service (besides car rental) to get to Telluride from Grand Junction?

Thanks!

There’s basically two options.

  1. Ride along with another festivarian (make a post in “Hitching a Ride”)

  2. Telluride Express

Thank you! I see your face a lot on the site. How many years have you been going?

Tom has been 25+ years check out his webpage
he has alot of cool stuff
:cheers

This year will be my 29th! :cheers

Old Fart…hehe
:cheers

Shut up Ron!

Thank you for your suggestions!
Guess I’ll see you there. I’m coming all the way from Kennnntucky!

Hey, I live in Grand Junction. There is an Enterprise rent-a-car within just a few blocks of the train station. Otherwise there are a LOT of people who pass through Grand Junction on the way to the festival.

Make me Dad !

Nice to see things getting back to “normal” around here. :lol

that tellurideexpress link is dead. This is a good question though. Was going to approach it later but, will they also take you from Montrose?

It looks like car rental is the best bet.

What are your suggestions for “must haves”?

:wave might I suggest you post on the ride section of this forum… You might just score a great ride, meet some really cool festivarians, save some dough, and keep your carbon footprint small. Once you get to festival the expense of a rental car will be wasted cause you won’t need it until the festival is over.

There is a great thread for what to bring somewhere in here, maybe our kind moderators will give it a bump for you.

:peace

Good point re: the car. I didn’t think we’d have much use in Telluride…but might want to cross over for hot spring soak.

Another question. When to most people check into Mary E. Ilium?

The link just worked for me. :flower
And yes, it also runs from Montrose. :cheers

Spoke with the folks at Telluride Express, the website was down earlier today but up now. Round trip from Montrose is $100 per person. Well worth it to avoid the rental and hassle of a car.

I rented a car at the Denver airport my first year and basically paid for it to sit along side the road unused for a week. Not worth it… I echo the previous sentiment in finding someone to share a ride with, its much cheaper and always nice to make new friends.

I got one of my best rides from GJT to TEX once with Hooch and Daniela :thumbsup

Is there a Thread for ride share already or do we need to create one?

Thanks
