We will be staying at the Upper Lawson campground with our RV (first timers!) and wondering where is the best place to fill the fresh water tank of the RV, can we do so at Upper Lawson before parking?
Hey there. We’ve camped at Lawson before (tent), but this is our first time bringing the RV. I had a similar thought and called the Conoco station to ask if they had a spigot; they suggested trying the wastewater treatment facility across the street. Their website mentions an RV dump, but the emails and site specifically note it’s closed during festival season, and there’s no mention of fresh potable water either. I tried calling them directly too, but the line just beeps and I can’t get through. I also tried Telluride Tire and Auto, right next to the campground, but got a pretty unfriendly gentleman who said they don’t have a spigot and didn’t know of anyone in the area who’d be willing to help. If you find a spot, let me know!
This is our 11th year in Lawson RV. The wastewater plant is completely shut down to festivarians for the week, so we usually dump at Golden Gate gas in Montrose. Ridgeway State park will also only let you dump if you have a paid campsite. We’ve always carried a 6 gallon jug with a longer spout, and filled that at the filtered water stations in Lawson for our fresh water. I’m not sure Upper has a station, but the website says there’s one. We also have a small dolly to get the jug back to the camper. Hope that helps a bit.
