Hello festivarians, seeking the collective wisdom here. I’m about to start the challenging process of trying to book connecting flights to get me into Montrose for festival. It’s challenging because booking domestic flights in the US when you are based in Australia is incredibly difficult. The first year we came I used Priceline and I got bumped over and over again plus constant price rises. I vowed never to use them again!
Am still looking for a better option. Your flight booking system seems to use third party resellers whereas we tend to book direct with the airline so I find your system a bit harder to understand and compare. What company have you used that you trust and recommend?
Need advice please.
I need to get from Dallas to Montrose and then from Montrose to NY after festival. If possible, direct flights or maximum of one stop. I know there is a daily service on AA Dallas to Montrose. Is it best to book direct with them? Getting out seems trickier. We are going to NY for a couple of days before flying back to Australia. We want connecting flights from Montrose through to NY so we can get luggage put through. Any suggestions?
I don’t drive in US. I tried it once and yes, crashed the car, let’s not have that story again.
Any hints or suggestions on best options? Are there better airlines or better third party sites to handle the booking?
And, I need to mention, booking domestic flights from within Australia seems to bump up the price by a mile ( eg the current quote from Dallas to Montrose is nearly $700 one way).
Any suggestions gratefully received, I love getting your insights. Have never forgotten how much I learned when I asked about driving.
Cannot wait to be back Thank you very much everyone.
You can’t book there but it tells you the best prices and gives you flexibility on routes. I am not sure your dates exactly but I took a shot here…
Looks like you’d need to book directly on American Airlines. $580.50 per person.

:wave Looks like there will be more flights into Tride this Summer. This was just posted for ski season so I bet come June there routes will remain.
Winter air service for 2018/2019 features 15 direct non-stop flights from 11 hubs nationwide. Telluride’s air service continues to expand with New York flights going daily this winter, along with added daily holiday flights from San Francisco and larger jets from Dallas-Ft. Worth to the Telluride/Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ). Read more at http://bit.ly/2P3380n
Thank you, I hope you are right! My experience in trying to book has been that the summer flight schedule is not very extensive but fingers crossed! I’m going to hold over booking internal flights till March or April.
Yes my most likely option is to fly from Dallas ( we are going to fly into Dallas from Australia). I’m trying to find the best booking site to book that flight. It’s really, really hard booking US domestic flights when you are in Australia. That’s the tricky bit. X
