Well, I don’t know if its ever been done before, but I would love to hear the House Band do a cover of the Lynnard Skynard song ‘The Ballad of Curtis Lowe’ (song about a dobro player, for those wondering the connection…) featuring an extended super-mean Jerry solo.
That would be soooo awesome :deer
Sam playing Mando while Emmylou sings the female backup to Plant during The Battle of Evermore…sorry, my head just exploded thinking about the sound of that in the box canyon. Cripes! Are we there yet?
Maybe some Chris Thile sitting in with the Flecktones for a few numbers?
Alternatively, Punch Brothers joining the Stringduster’s on stage for some of that fired up jamming :love
oh oh OH I nearly forgot! I think I’m correct in assuming Darrell Scott is playing in Robert Plant’s Band of Joy, and we know Tim O’Brien will be with us in June, so how about some Real Time revival?!?
I can’t get enough of Tim and Darrell together personally, I think they’re a match made in heaven :angel And I didn’t get lucky enough to see then when they were touring together
So I think Darell should stick around and sit in with the Tim O’Brien band :thumbsup
LOVE this idea, lala! Tim and Darrell sing “Walk Beside Me” together on The Bluegrass Journey DVD (If you haven’t seen it – I recommend it here are some clips from the DVD: http://www.bluegrassjourney.com/clips.html).
Needless-to-say, I often put that song on repeat. Their voices blend so beautifully together. All of a sudden I have an itch to run home to my DVD player immediately to crank that song and SING ALONG!!! :love :love
If the stars align properly, I could see Darrell sitting in with the Tim O’Brien Band, but I highly doubt we’d get a set with just the two of them since Tim already has a duo set with Kevin Burke. Perhaps a song-writing workshop with the two of them is in order.
HEAR! HEAR! :flower
Yes, in fact the bluegrass journey dvd is where I first heard them together, and I didn’t really know of Darell Scott, and I was like, who’s that dude with the AWESOME voice with Tim?!?
Since I’ve had the Real Time album, I’ve played it many times on repeat…
Funny, I was thinking the same thing recently. We’ve been hearing a lot of John Denver and his wonderful voice at work in the last few weeks.
Needless to say, everyone wants to know why I smile so big when “Rocky Mountain High” starts playing. I just tell them they wouldn’t understand unless they’ve done a “Telluride 360”. :lol :lol :lol
HEAR! HEAR! :flower

LaLa, I think we’re going to be good friends! The Bluegrass Journey DVD was really what pushed my love of bluegrass from a little flame to roaring fire! Now that we’ve had this discussion, I will be sad if Darrell and Tim don’t sing together on the main stage! Can’t wait to meet you LaLa!!! :flower
Well, I was a lifelong fan of bluegrass music before the Bluegrass Journey DVD, but that DVD is responsible for rising awareness in us European folks about the existence of such festivals, and sparked my personal quest to make it to a Bluegrass fest someday… It did take 6 years of yearning, saving up, planning, and finally choosing TELLURIDE in 2009, and the rest is history… :lol
Me and my husband are back after a year hiatus and we’ve got warner field tix, how bout you? :wave
Since Abigail’s been announced, how about some Abigail and Bela duets?
Me & Dayton saw them perform together at Rounder’s 40th anniversary at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, it was beautiful :flower
