Another Thought

did we see Peter Rowan for the last time this year?

Oh I hope not! His set was great

:frowning: :huh

I so so hope not. His set brought me to tears, really. Later in the day I watched him move from the poser pit to the backstage area and it looked like he could barely walk and was in lots of discomfort. He and Del seem to be the string connecting today to the roots of the music I love so much.

Del is getting on up there too. He forgets a verse or two at times but still sounds fantastic. Most of my bluegrass heroes have passed away (Scruggs, Watson, Stanleys, Jimmy Martin). It will be sad days when those two are added to that list.

Rowns is kinda buried in the mix, but he’s up there - still with us - and making music!

Just saw Peter play old & in the way songs 2 weeks ago here in Baton Rouge. He sure is getting around slower, but he’s still loving every bit of it. He looked fairly fatigued in Telluride last year. It’s tough for those older folks to go out and perform at that altitude. Sure would be heartbroken if he couldn’t make it again, but I would understand. Cheers to pete rown!
