Hi All,
I was one of the unfortunate this year and was not able to secure 4-days before the sellout. I remember from years past seeing something about returned tickets going up for sale weekly. Does anyone know more details? Is is Tuesdays? Is there a specific site for these tickets or is it just the shop (http://shop.bluegrass.com/telluride/tickets)? I have already posted my plea on the ticket exchange board…any other advice for a festivarian looking to score some good fortune?
The return ticket resale won’t happen until after the return ticket policy has expired
on March 15th and some time after that the tickets IF ANY will be for sale on the
same site that they were originally for sale on under “return ticket resale” tab.
Typically on a Tuesday. Just keep checking there after 3/15 as well as the Ticket
exchange board. More and more tickets will become available closer to the festival
from Festivarins that can’t attend.
I also was shut out this year. But from following this board, with a little patience and a little luck, something will eventually turn up. Perhaps, with a little luck in the Nightgrass lottery, there may be room for barter. If someone does have any extra 4 day or TP, feel free to PM me. If you’re scalping, don’t bother, I will never buy from you anyway.
In life there are always options…
This is why, in my opinion, Nightgrass tickets should not be in a lottery. For the Sheridan, fine, but not the other venues. It causes this exact situation where people put in for the lottery for a bunch on Nightgrass tickets (whether they plan on actually attending the shows or not) in hopes of using the tickets in trades. Before the system changed last year you could always get tickets the day they went on sale for the Palm or Conference Center shows. Now with the lottery you get this - and tickets are harder to come by for people who actually want to go to the Nightgrass shows.
BTW Buckeye this has nothing to do with you - just the Nightgrass lottery system in general.
I completely agree with you, Nick. Another part of it is that the people entering the lottery for this reason don’t realize what tickets will be in demand and what tickets won’t. Last year, there were people trying to trade Tim and Darrell tickets for Town Park. As much as I love Tim and Darrell and consider their Sheridan show to be one of the best I’ve seen all year, that ticket isn’t going to get you a Town Park ticket. A little common sense when entering the lottery would go a long way.
I would love to see the planet drop the lottery for The Palm and Conference Center shows. I don’t think it’s necessary.
I would tend to agree with you, it’s a bad system. But a lot of this type of bartering went on last year. Also, there are not very many “bad” Nightgrass shows. Last year I actually gave a pair away to a couple that were new to the festival and had never attended one. Just my way of paying forward.
Gonna have to move the festival to Mile High Stadium so the loyal festivarians DON’T get shut out on an annual basis. There’s over 160 4 day passes on Stub Hub, lowest being $350. How is this allowed to happen? I’ll be fine, but I’m worried about others who have been going for 20+ years and have been getting shut out every year since M&S came to town. BTW, Winter Wondergrass has a SPAZTASTIC line-up this year!
This will be my 3rd conseutive TBF and I am not aware of what
ticket sales were like PRE Mumford and Sons. Did TBF not sell
out before M&S graced the stage as Mandhoe indicates :huh :huh
There were … what … 10,500 tickets in total? 160 tickets on stubhub is 1.52%; A negligible amount, if you ask me. As in past few years, it appears as though the vast majority … actually, near totality, of tickets sold went to those possessing the festivarian spirit. Just sayin’.
As for me … I didn’t get tickets this year … would have been 10th consecutive year. I still may make the journey to Telluride … look for a single day ticket or two in town ( always available) and hang out at Elks Park (FREE entertainment … some of it even better than Main Stage (e.g. … the Doc Watson Tribute)).
The two things I WILL miss (if I don’t get a ticket) are getting T-shirts at the Merc tent and the awesome food offered at the fest. ;(.
Never fear! A slew of tickets always turn up as we get closer to lift off. Keep watching the Forum and the PBG ticket resale tab :thumbsup
I know, I know, been there. Everything always shakes out. You will get a ticket if you want to go bad enough, just keep watching.
I haven’t been to the festival in a few years, but I had 6 in a row before my break. I think I only got tickets through the Planet twice, maybe three times in those 6 trips. Watch this board in the ticket exchange section and watch the Planet’s returned ticket section. It doesn’t take a ton of persistence to score tickets. If you really want them, you’ll get them.
Exactly. I’ve been to the last seven. The past four years, I’ve been in Town Park even though I’ve never won the lottery. Tickets will become available. They always do. There’s absolutely NO reason to ever buy from a scalper.
As someone who had to unload a 4 day pass last year (not TP or Warner, though), hang in there all. My daughter could not come with me last year, so I had a 4 day pass to sell, for which I was grateful someone could use it (along with the HS camping, sad to see this most likely is not an option in 2015), and bought it at face value. The closer to the event, the more anxious both buyers and sellers become. As has been said, if your spirit is true, you will get a ticket. I am excited that I’ve convinced 2-3 other family connections to the festival next June, where they have listened on the streaming broadcast last year. (Although for 1, that meant finding a non-camping venue. Not my style, but I will trade camping to have my wife come to her first Telluride.)
As the OP I wanted to let everyone know that I already found a nice, accommodating ticket holder that ended up with extra tickets (nothing nefarious, just being cautions and over zealous) so I’m good to go. This is just to say that for the loyal, community minded fans there is sure to be a way. Good luck everyone. See you in June.
Awesome! Glad you got your tickets so easily! This just goes to show everyone that if you have the heart, you’ll find the tickets. TBF tends to work out that way.
Be patient say lots of prayers to God and the bluegrass gods and goddess (yes auntie dont jump the gun and get scammed and offer BACON…Lots of it. Its better than money trust me… oh and dont fret if you really wanna go youll find some. :thumbsup
