I’m super excited about my first time at the academy! Been to RG for many years, but I’m sure this will be a fantastic addition to the experience.
Regarding camping, where do the academy attendees camp? Is it only in the front portion? (at RG we tend to camp behind the stage in the tents only area). Also, I have to assume that there is plenty of room to spread out…is there any need to get there right at noon on Sunday (or before)? I’m used to waiting in line and rushing for a camping spot during the regular onsite madness. Thoughts anyone?
Last, how many attendees are there in a typical RGA? Just curious…
Academy camping is only in the front part. Maybe only a 1/4 to 1/3rd of the front part. Classes are held in the “Tent Only” part during academy week. If you want to camp back there, you can move on Thursday @ 6:00pm. There is a line for Academy camping just like for Rockygrass. We got in line Sat afternoon and were near the end of the 2nd row of cars. I would treat the Academy camping rush the same as Rockygrass camping rush.
I would guess there is a couple hundred people in the Academy. Around 10-12 per class.
And what is this business about needing to get out of the campground by noon on Thursday? That can’t be right, how are we supposed to do that when things don’t wrap up until 9pm? Are we not allowed to jam all night Thursday this year? Can anyone tell if this is a mistake on the schedule, or if things are really going to suck Thursday? :huh
