There’s been a concern that some folks new to TBF have Vehicle passes that they truly do not need. To clear up any confusion I have been asked to explain the following…
Telluride Bluegrass Festival Passes are an item the community trys it’s best to reserve for those that may have the need to retreat to a camper or pop-up trailer for medical and/or health concerns.
Town Park and Warner Field Camping is very much UNLIKE other festivals, i.e., Bonnaroo or Wakarusa, where your camping space may or may not be limited to the legnth of your vehicle. We do not drive our cars into the campgrounds and camp beside them.
Most of Town Park Camping is in the wooded areas defined as The Town Park Preserve and The Town Park Primitave Area which are spur areas of a year round campground with specific spaces. Many of these specific camping spaces are taken one week prior to Planet Bluegrass taking over the Town Park area as a whole, on the Saturday prior to the actual start of music on Thursday, by folks that pay the Town of Telluride for camping. They are know to the community as A.B.G.A.T., The Advanced Bluegrass Assult Team.
A.B.G.A.T. folks are a vital part of a very large extended family. These are the folks that will welcome you with open arms to the festival grounds, help you establish your camp and at times help you with set-up, which can be invaluable at or after dusk on any given night, especially if you’ve driven a long distance… and then need to set up your own lodging… in the dark.
There are at least two families that have been a vital part of the A.B.G.A.T. for years that are now in true need (as defined above) of Vehicle Passes. If you or someone you know is in possession of a Vehicle Pass (or has one waiting at Will Call) and now realize that you really don’t need it to define your camping space at TBF, please contact either myself through this forum or check in the “Ticket Exchange” section of this forum under the thread “The Camps Need Tickets” and respond in any manner of your choice to Ron N Deb and we will find a way to get the Vehicle Pass to the folks in need (payment to you of course).
Thank You for you time,
Auntie Hope
TBF ~ A.B.G.A.T 2009
Well put Hope.
I’d just like to add one thing…
I would suggest to Planet Bluegrass that they rename the “Town Park Vehicle Pass” to the “Town Park RV/Camper Pass” to avoid the misconception that it’s for “parking” your car in Town Park.
There’s only about 1 “vehicle pass” for each 40 campers in Town Park and there’s plenty of people that require them due to health/handicap issues.
Please consider those in dire need before using them to just have your car next to your camp site. :flower
I know you put this in the ticket exchange section of the forum Tom, but that vehicle pass DOES NOT allow for in/out priveleges with said vehicle. It cannot move once you have it parked after Planet Bluegrass takes over Town Park. I am just hoping that info will make people realize that having their vehicle pass for a car is just not worth it.
Excellent explanation Hope… I was thinking that a post needed to be written to explain what exactly a vehicle pass was and how one was not needed just to get to Town Park. There does seem to some confusion over vehicle passes and barrier passes…
Just a suggestion … Next year maybe PB can have a “vehicle pass” for people with special concerns. Just show you have a handicapped plated vehicle or a letter from your physician stating your circumstances and you can get a vehicle pass. I just hate to see people who really need a pass not get one. Kinda bums me out
Now, we could form a UVPAF…(Useless Vehicle Pass Attack Force and hide some real stinky stuff in or under the Jetta’s, BMW’s, Lexus’s, Audi’s(I could go on…) in the late hours. This would have to be a colvert operation for only a chosen few.
Sour milk, rotten eggs, etc. should be the weapons of choice. This is not going to be an easy job and those with a weak stomach should not apply! This could help enlighten a few of them folks that don’t care about anybody but themselves. After all, it’s there world and we just live in it…right?
Jailhouse is taking applications…Not any pay, just food and grog!
:lol :evil :lol :evil :lol :thumbsup :lol :evil :evil :evil :evil
I was at a Yonder show last night with a guy from WI who scored one. Tried to talk him out of it for K & C, to no avail. So, they do actually exist this year!
the real bummer here is that there are probably people who have them and are not on the forum, have no idea they really don’t need it. the way PB has it worded, it almost tells the newby that they need one to park there car?
“If there are two of you and you want to have your vehicle or RV at the campground with you, you must purchase two camping passes and one vehicle or RV pass in addition to your Festival passes. A vehicle is considered anything requiring a license plate. Also, any hard-sided campers or camp trailers will need a vehicle pass, even if they do not require a license plate.”
maybe next year a change in this wording, call it something like a limited access RV pass, and let everyone know upfront, parking available without a pass, once parked you will not be able to move your vehicle except for emergency?
Their bad, if they are not on the forum. THey won’t know what hit them, when we send out the UVPAF! :evil :lol :evil :lol :evil :lol
Stink the little cars…that’s my story and I’m sticking to it! :evil :lol :evil :lol :evil :lol

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find out more about the parking garage in Mtn. Village? Due to the fact that I won’t be arriving till sometime late afternoon/early evening on Wednesday, I suspect that there will be precious little parking closer to TP. That combined with the fact that I’ll be driving a rental this year, I’d like to find out more about parking away from the main drag. Also, what’s the approx. drive time between TP and Mtn. Village? I realize that I’ll be riding the gondola back after I park the car, but I’m also thinking about time involved with breaking camp on Monday. Thanks in advance.
Don’t sweat it Mitch… Come on in and unload your car, then drive on up to Mt Village and ride the gondola back. It’s about a 10 minute drive up the mt to the garage. The whole trip will take a nice leisurely hour or so.
We will send over a few more details as we get them but, the folks we are renting the condo from in Mtn.Village sent a note saying that parking may now be $20.00 a night! :mad :mad :mad
Never heard of that before. You should get one free parking pass with yer condo. That my friend is called gouging. They can’t change the rules after you start the game…
To our undferstang, that WAS the free lot. It has nothing to do with the condo owner, it was a city of Mtn.Vilage deal. Like I said, they are sending us more accurate info in the days ahead. We of course will send along.
