chapters 1 > 4
Shakti in Viareggio Italy late April 1977 B&W video 28 mins is a mix of A quality and B quality VHS tapes, the better quality video from a later broadcast during the songs (India & Get Down and Sruti) was overlaid over the B quality.
The first chapter is the band tuning up with an italian commentator talking so I made it a seperate chapter the B quality video is last third of “India” all of “Peace of Mind” and a very short middle section of “Get Down and Sruti”
chapter 5
John McLaughlin & L Shankar filmed in John’s New York apartment in 1977 for a UK TV program the song is “Two Sisters” and John is also interviewed
chapter 6
John McLaughlin & Larry Coryell play the Shakti song “Lotus Feet” in Martinique, Fort-de-France in the Caribbean in December 1980
chapter 7
John McLaughlin on the Paris TV show ‘Le Grand Echiquier’ Sept 19, 1984 with Hariprasad Chaurasia, Zakir Hussein and Katia & Marielle Labeque perform “When Blue Turns Gold” (Zakir has said this is the only time they ever played the song live)
chapter 8 – Music Without Boundries –
in 1997 as part of India’s 50th anniversary of independence of British rule. John was asked to reform Shakti but both Shakti guitars had damaged necks and L Shankar was not available, John on electric guitar played 4 concerts in England (and possibly also a couple in europe) with Hariprasad Chaurasia and Zakir Hussein and Vikku Vinayakram I think the group was billed as John McLaughlin with special guests.
Later they were also asked to play in India and they added Benedik Hofseth they played a concert in Oslo Norway some of it was a FM broadcast and the working title of the group was ‘Music Without Boundries’ in Bombay india December 1997 they handed out some xassette tapes at the concert of a rehearsal.
in the video you can see on the wall a banner with their ‘Music Without Boundries’ title on it the video only has snippets of the concert and short interviews and a longer interview by TV sjow host Sanjna Kapoor with John McLaughlin, it’s not known if this line up played any more concerts
chapter 9 – Peshkar –
Larry Coryell with 3 original Shakti members formed Peshkar in 1987 but it only lasted for a short time they play the song “Sally” on unknown UK TV show while on tour in England in December 1987 Anthony Hindson sat in with the group
Trivia : in 1982 Larry Coryell filled in for John McLaughlin on a Shakti tour of India when John broke his arm playing squash as the tour was about to start

my review:
"I’ve seen some of the best pulls on the internet here at Lossless Legs - at least this past year anyway. From Grateful Dead to Clapton, Doors, or Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, over to Sam Bush, Tony Rice, David Grisman, and even Jerry Moore’s Commander Cody tapes. I’ve barely scratched the surface. Shakti could be LL’s best torrent ever. I’m speechless. – Monte
I cannot find a better played album anywhere in my pile."
