2016 - Town Park Arrival

Hello,
This will be my first trip and I was lucky enough to land town park passes. I will be arriving Friday the 10th. I know that planet bluegrass takes over on Saturday.

Can I get into Town Park and mark our spot on Friday the 10th?

I see that charcoal may be prohibited due to fire danger. Can I use charcoal this year or is it propane only?

Thank you and am super excited for this trip! :cheers

:wave Welcome
Just roll into Town Park on Friday the 10th, park in a safe place and wander around to make new friends. We’ll be there with open arms. The preserve opens for camping saturday morning at Land rush, that’s when you can claim a camping spot for festival. Youl’ll find me hanging at Wander-in across from the main bathhouse, stop by and say hello. No word on the charcoal situation yet. We’ve stopped using it because of the mess and personal safety issues.

Breath deep, drink lots (of water), and get ready for the time of your life.

:peace

Thank you for the reply! I’ll def stop by and say hello.

Since we will not be able to get our camping spot in TP till the land rush on Saturday morning.

What are some options to stay Friday night?

Ty

Greetings!! Only people who have a rented camp site in the main campgrounds can camp in Town Park on Friday night. But land rush is at 8am SHARP on Saturday morning, so don’t mess around!

Not trying to jack the thread but we wont be arriving until the goddess walk, with our camper since this is the first time we ever have got a vehicle pass. Hopefully some space will still be available near camp duk tape!

What is the general arrival procedure for town park? We will be arriving Sunday afternoon. Do you unload all your gear and go pick a spot or find spot first etc? Also, is there a “loud” part of TP and a more chill area for people that don’t stay up all night? I have ear plugs and i’m a heavy sleeper so not too worried about it but I’d prefer not to setup near the drum circles.

Duk Tape is in the preserve area so no RVs can actually get into there. Otherwise, I’m not sure of RV space availability but the ones on the approach to the preserve area are in high demand and are always full by Saturday.

I highly suggest you park and go wander the campground with a tarp. Be friendly. Met folks. Ask questions. Once you find your “spot” toss down your tarp. There are multiple load/unload zones so then drive to the one closest to your spot.

Yes, there are louder and less loud parts. Ask around.

We typically set fire to any drum circles that try to form.

Ah, that is how you keep warm? You crack me up Hooch, crikey it is close now, hurrah :wave

If you’re looking for a quietER area, you might look into the “primitive area” across the river. Since you can’t drive there, the effort keeps a lot of louder party people away. Yes there are still parties there, but it seems to be a LITTLE quieter over there.

Up until the land rush on Saturday, you’re not supposed to camp in TP without a rented campsite, and those campsites are not supposed to have large numbers of campers. Plus those campsites are always sold out, with many ABGAT’ers already in place enjoying the relaxing pre-week time in TP. But it IS a great time to visit, make friends, plan your “rush” strategy, etc.

Land Rush is a fun event that you should try to experience, but also know that there are many great places to camp in the preserve area available all day Saturday and somewhat on Sunday. After that, you’ll be finding places for single tents and small camps. By Wednesday, you’ll appreciate finding any place for a tent that isn’t on a 45 degree angle. As a last resort, there is a HUGE open filed in the primitive area that has plenty of room.
