2014 Telluride Bluegrass Festival - What NEW Acts would you like to see perform?

There’s a young singer-songwriter out of England that I’ve really been enjoying a lot lately.

Widespread Panic would also be a fun time.

Hayes Carll and Corb Lund. Especially Corb Lund, he’s probably my new favorite songwriter (and his band is pretty awesome too!)

Hayes Carll was fantastic at Targhee this past weekend. He’d be an excellent addition to any lineup.

Hayes comes thru Albuquerque pretty often, but his last show here was the best. He is SUCH a great writer!

Two suggestions via New Orleans. The Honey Island Swamp Band just released their third album. I can’t seem to take it out of my CD player. And Hooray for the Riff Raff was just here opening for Alabama Shakes. I’d go out of my way to see either one again!

Just thought I’d mention that the Wailin’ Jennys have a new EP coming out, and currently have tour dates booked out until May 2014. :eek

Aoife O’donovan seems pretty active, and pretty pretty :lol

Hey, how about a modern-day “Planet Bluegrass Lilith Fair”…just bring all my favorite female acts up here to Lyons for a weekend. That’ll be awesome, thanks! :evil

I’m thinking Telluride is in need of some more Sugar (I’m tired of filling the quota all by myself). And what better way to fulfill that need than with Sugarman himself. If you haven’t heard of Rodriguez (AKA Sugarman), you owe it to yourself to watch the documentary Searching for Sugarman and familiarize yourself with him. He may not be bluegrass, but he is a fantastic songwriter from the late 60’s/early 70’s.

Mark Knopfler or Clapton and Steve Winwood, not real “new.”

Have to Agree Sugar. Hayes Carll is an incredible talent, I have seen him solo and with a band and either the songs are just awesome!

Smokin’ hot trio from Quebec called De Temps Antan:

Warren Haynes :medal

& Phil Lesh

His most recent album is unbelievably good. While I’m not super into the particular version of “southern rock” he has put out with the 400 Unit, I would see him touring this album in a second. It’s super personal and laced with reference (blatant and subtle) to his recent sobriety. It’s a killer.

The Dead Winter Carpenters just tore it up in Missoula. Three free shows in three days. One of the shows had Tim Carbone and Andy Gossling of RRE sitting in with them. They’d fit in really well at Telluride!

Though not a new band by any means, Goose Creek Symphony has never played Telluride and they’d be a really fun set to have. They were the highlight of this year’s River City Roots Festival in Missoula. Amazingly talented guys and such a blast to watch on stage.

Yes please! I don’t care who he plays with; Mule or the Warren Haynes Band, or by himself!

Here’s a good sample of Goose Creek Symphony music.

This is probably my favorite Goose Creek video I’ve found. It’s from their DVD.
