Stoked for our first Telluride! We have tickets and full passes for Mary E Illium for our camper van and were told it doesn’t matter when we arrive, that there wil be a spot for us. True? Are there any really bad spots? Or if it’s a big deal, we can definitely try to arrive earlier, but originally thought Thursday. (Oh, and do they charge more to arrive early?) Sorry, another question: planning to board our little dog somewhere, as there’s no pets at the festival… but are they allowed in the campground the days before? Thanks! -Bruce and Shannon
Technically yes there will be space for your van arriving any day. But, arriving anytime after Wednesday morning the campground will seem fairly full. Maybe not very many “bad spots” but arriving on Thursday you might end up close to or next to Porta potties, as those are some of the last spots to be taken, or you might end up in a spot that isn’t the most level site. There are no dogs allowed any time. There are boarding options for dogs in the area, but you’ll probably have cheaper options near your home. You can arrive as early as the Saturday before Festival starts with no extra charges, and most folks would highly recommend arriving as early as possible for many reasons. 1) arriving early you’ll get a much better, and scenic campsite, 2) arriving early gives you a chance to hike, bike and explore the amazing area around Telluride including checking out the town, without having to miss music to do so, 3)arriving early gives you a few days to acclimate to high elevation, altitude really messes with some folks, others don’t notice much. 4) there are lots of Pre-fest events going on in Town Park food, drinks, picking etc… and your more than welcome to come join that fun, and meet other Festivarians, you’ll find the schedule for those events popping up here on the Forum over the next few months!
What a generous, informative reply. Gonna try to follow your advice and arrive before Thursday at least. Thanks, Todd!
You are welcome. Folks did the same for us when it was our first time! It’s really a great group of folks who attend TBF. At this point it would be no lie if I said we come for the people, and the main stage music is just icing on the cake!
