Had a little heads up … since as I was approaching the Shell station, I saw an adult and child run across the crosswalk to the north side of the highway, leaving behind a child near their car parked by the Shell. So, naturally slowed down to a lot (5mph) figuring the “stranded” kid was going to cross too … but she stuck by the car, and that’s when I noticed the eagle being the thing the first two had crossed the hwy to get a closer look at. So, was already crawling along and had a chance to take out my phone and snap a few.
Wow that is one huge bird. Beautiful! Great pics!
Very Cool! One of the deciding factors in pulling the trigger to buy our land, was the first day I went to look at it there was an Eagle perched in the tree above the gate. I immediately told myself “this is it”!
Well the chickens just got all quiet so i walk out to see and I looked up and perched in my tree was sitting a very large red tail I saw him swoop down and grab a field critter and fly off I was instantly reminded of these shots you took… Well done again glad you were prepared and ready… unfortunately I did not have my camera or phone near me ( even then I probably couldn’t have captured what you have kudos)
Nice! The actual memory is definitely more poignant for me vs. pictures and is still very surreal when I play it back in my mind. So even though you didn’t capture the hawk on an “external device”, I’m sure you’ll always have access to a much more vivid representation of the event you witnessed in your own mind!
You got it :thumbsup for years I lugged 13lbs+ of body’s batteries and lenses for a pair of d100s and a d300 but after piles and stacks and year after year of memory cards (& a few undeveloped rolls)full I realize that even though I enjoy capturing the moment to share…you are right, I did experience them… and they are still as vivid. (Still a shutterbug at heart so I’ll adapt to a simpler format soon)
Thank you for sharing these pictures FOM!
Oh hell no! I would not participate, and if they want to even TRY to come into town to shut down the dispensaries and piss off a bunch of old tripping hippies they will have the fight of their life! If something like that was going to happen in Tride DURING the same week as festival, I’d sell my ticket and never look back, or go back. Fuck politicians. The very idea or mention of them doesn’t belong in this forum. This pisses me off that it’s even here.
The eagle pics are cool though, and yes they are HUGE! I have eagles in the field across from my house.
I see them just about every day.
Come on Cindy Lou…tell us how you really feel! :pirate
Were these pictures taken on a Friday? You know the eagle flies on Friday.
:popcorn
I’m going to have to say I like Mother Teresa’s answer
“I was once asked why I don’t participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I’ll be there.”
As a visitor, I would feel constrained if it was a domestic issue but if there was an issue of humanity, dignity, human rights, respect then yes I would. I support the right to speak up and speak out while equally respecting the rights of others to live peacefully. And that includes my wonderful friends at Telluride. Our right to love, enjoy our music and friendship is worth fighting for and I would always try to ensure we have a peaceful, welcoming community.
And, of course, Greensky said “ are you going to be a rich girl for all of your life? Or give up your sense of truth for the night ? it’s going to take chances to keep us alive, over and over and over and over again”
Peace and love. See you all soon
:mad :mad The objection to protesting as the wrong place/wrong time is EXACTLY the reason you should consider protesting!!! :mad :mad
It sounds like many folks think this is an inconvenience with that type of statement. Catching people in the happy vibe might make them a little more open to listening to what you are making a stand for.
I would be open to spending a couple hours, if the cause felt worthy to me.
I value your opinion.
I would actually prefer that you keep your politics out of my festival experience. :mad
LOL!!! :lol
Just a few days to release the troubles of the world and ride the waves of music, nature, emotion, dance.
Am I asking for too much. :lol Lets pretend just for 4 days and push for love and peace. :cheers
I’ll second that notion :cheers
