Paul Simon isn’t even touring right now. Not sure I see any chance of him getting his band together and showing up at Telluride in a week.
I vote RRE as a likely reasonable option. That being said, Dark Star is in Boulder on Fri the 21st. Further seems to have the 20th off as-well. Some sort of Further, Phill, Dead inspired gathering would be very welcomed and appropriate.
This is kind of fun, they should have a surprise headliner every year announced right before.
In the spirit of TBF and being its their BIG 40, I’d really LOVE to see Nickel Creek take the stage that evening! :flower :thumbsup
agree’d
^ yes. Nice choice. I was thinking similarly but more along the lines of The Flecktones…with Jeff Coffin and Howard Levy…everyone has that date available…according to websites. I loved that Mumford was playing…sad not to see them…but the Flecktones have more musical history in this canyon. A nice 40th anniversary reunion.

The Flecktones would be amazing!!
I would obviously love to see Phil/Bob/Furthur/Allmans/Paul Simon/James Taylor, etc…
But realistically, I think its next to impossible for PB to book such talent with a little over a week’s notice. (But, hey, you guys should still try!!! )
That being said, it would be cool to find a couple really good jazz musicians to come up and jam with Bela. Not enough Bela on the ticket this year.
Wow…there’s so little time.
A more prominent spot for Cheese and/or Yonder, and maybe cheesy salmon nightgrass.
REK would be cool.
RRE – of course - they’re a great band! Looks like their schedule is open.
Alison Kraus - nice idea!
David Byrne – he’s touring so the band is together.
It’s going to be tough because time is so short.
i say strength in numbers reunion
Isn’t that basically the House Band? I’d think a New Grass reunion would be more apropos.
Sorry, I haven’t read all six pages since I’m T’ride bound. Any looked up Willies schedule. All in for Willie.
Yes! Yes! Bring it!
Am I the only person left that loves me some Dolly?
Dolly and Kenny are in Albuquerque soon…I must admit I thought about it, though not for TBF. Its a totally different kind of leftover cheese. :lol
Flecktones and NGR reunion are great ideas but… Johnny is Doobing in California and Vic is doing a camp in TN so those two are unlikely. Willie is booked in Toronto, Neil is in Europe. High season for touring.
Hornsby has no dates listed for that time.
One strong candidate that has a possible gap in his schedule is Dawg and he’s waay overdue. Think of the sit-in possibilities with that one.
Whoever it is, I think it will be awesome. Kinda hoping they announce who it is when they walk out on stage at 10:00pm next thursday. Surprise!
Darn I was going to say John Cowan but I guess he is busy. Sorry the bassist is ill; I hope he recovers fully. They are good but certainly not my favorite of the festival. I would love to see Willie come back, or Hornsby, or Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Or they could put the Stringdusters in a headline spot and those boys will NOT disappoint! I would love to see the in a night slot, as long as it isn’t the same night as the nightgrass I have a ticket for.
Who will do the M&S nightgrass spot? Planet annnounced today that they have cancelled the rest of their tour, so that makes me believe that none of the band will be there.
Neil Young would be awesome, or bring back Bare Naked Ladies. I really enjoyed them, and Counting Crows were really good.
Now Grisman would be fantastic too!
I’m sure that whoever they get to fill that slot will be great. I’m sure Ferg is disappointed as he told me months ago that he knew exactly who was going to be playing at the solstice, but wouldn’t tell. I wonder who HE would like to see instead? Craig?
HORNSBY WITH THE TUPAC HOLOGRAMMMMMM!!! :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

This is true.
I feel someone big is going to be announced or else they would have announced it already. Little Feat would be an awesome addition.
I’m with everyone else. OCMS and The Devil Makes Three would be a dreamy addition!!! I would also LOVE a Nickel Creek reunion…they’re all here anyway. I am sure Sara’s brother Sean will around as well to make the trifecta.
And please no Tom Petty. Planet Bluegrass, don’t do me like that. This is a bluegrass festival and I won’t back down. No, but serisouly.
Haha. Nice Petty puns. I think DMT would be a great addition. OCMS would work too.
