I think the StringDusters have been my favorite band for the last year or so . Such incredible musicianship . And the harmonizing !! “WOW”!! Missed them this year in Telluride . None of the bluegrass bands ever make out West . Such a BUMMER !! :bash
:rolleyes really?
Stringdusters are playing The Independent in the WEST (San Francisco) on April 19. Yonder just played the Fox in Oakland this weekend. Greensky has sold out the Fillmore in SF the last two times (and perhaps the Troubadour).
Either you need to get out of that wondrous area of LA/Pac Palisades or get a new definition of the west.
:cheers
LOL!! I guess I have to be more specific when I say the west . I see all the time that bluegrass bands play S.F. !!That’s about 6 hour drive for me . Yonder has played the House of Blues a couple of times in Hollywood . I’m just jealous of the mid-west . You guys get Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas and all the big hitters . That’s why I go to Telluride every year . Thanks for the reality check Billy.
Hey Stevens!
I know all about the (lack of) scene in SoCal/LA. I started going to TBF back in 2001 when I was living in Manhattan/Hermosa/Santa Monica through 2003. I was back east in DC from 2004-2010 and the bug was planted around 2009 that I had to live in that magical land of Colorado.
I made it to Boulder in 2010, had to leave in 2012 for San Francisco (oh…so horrible ;)) and am moving back to CO in a few short weeks.
I highly recommend landing/living in the land of FESTIVAAAALLL!
Shoot me a PM and we’ll gladly introduce you to Crunchy Frog in Town Park this June! :cheers
rossstevens are you familiar with the Huck Finn Jubliee? Its in Ontario Ca on June 13 14 15
Sam Bush
String Cheese
Del McCoury
Kellar Williams
Ralph Stanley… and more
Talk about a line up!!!
Whoop Whoop
I hit that come back to Phoenix for a change of underwear and more cold beer then off to Telluride :thumbsup
Check out thier website! :cheers
Pete
Hey Billy . Where are you camping ? I’m at the High School . This is the first year I won’t be in Warner Field . A good 7 year run ,not bad . And the High School could be cool . I got the Palm right in my back yard . I hope Greensky plays there . :wave
Hey Pete . That Festival sounds awesome !! Unfortunately I leave for Telluride that weekend . Maybe I could squeeze it in one of these years . I hear a lot of these groups don’t like L.A. ? I can’t imagine why (LOL)
It would be interesting to split the set and then infuse them at the end. Interesting …
Yeah , Like Railroad Earth and Greensky did a couple of years back . That set was SICK!!.
At least they are doing two shows this weekend at the Ogden…of course that won’t satisfy the desire to see them during the festival, but we’ll give it a shot :cheers. Who knows…perhaps the dusters will make the trek from Palisade and do a nightgrass show!!
I noticed that more and more bands that are not on the main stage play nightgrass shows . Maybe we’ll get lucky . Is Palisade close to Telluride . Its funny to hear Palisades Co. because I live in Palisades L.A. .
Palisade and Telluride are 2 hours 35 mins far apart (by car).
Love the Stringdusters! Just saw them at the 9:30 Club in D.C… They killed it. First time I ever saw them was in Elks’ Park. It was downright fantastic.
Billy, if they come to your camp, I am coming by!
Thanks for the info.
SIGN ME UP!!
One week from right now, I’ll be rocking out with the Dusters in Missoula. I’m looking at trying to make String Summit this year because I’m not sure I can handle a festival season without them. They are my favorite band in the business today. Salmon is the only other group that comes close for me.
I.S. musta got stuck somewhere on the plains of Wyoming today.
The Salt Lake City show has been postponed ‘til tomorrow evening (they were headin’ over the mountains from Denver for tonight’s show)
Parts of I-80 are closed due to snow and wind… and it really can get windy with blowing snow on that stretch of highway.
I hope they’re not spendin’ the night at a truck stop ifn they’re just drivin’ a van from show to show. Do you think they have a “tour bus” they’re travelin’ in?
Ah, maybe they’ll come up with a new song from the experience…
Saw their nice, cozy tour bus parked last night. Hoping they are warm inside with the generator running. :sunshine
I’m seeing the Duster’s tonight and I can’t wait! Those boys are going to rock the Top Hat for sure!
The Dusters killed it tonight! Best concert I’ve been to, well, since I saw the Dusters at the Palm in Telluride. Incredible show. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see them this summer. I just applied top be a volunteer at String Summit, so hopefully I get to see them there!
