You obviously don’t even know the rules… “Child on your lap”- all little ones under 13 are free anyway…But there are families that have teens and twenties who do live at home etc, who need tickets…

Not getting in makes you appreciate the tradition of fest and how it impacts your lifestyle. For me it feels like Family, the whole traditional deal. The food, the music, dance, fresh air and nature.
But most of all for me it is the familiar faces year after year and no dont know yer name, just your smile.
Sooo I think that any way one can secure a ticket becomes the motivater, no one wants to miss out and people are creative, especially this bunch :lol Rules are guidlines to creat fairness. Do whats right for not only you but the next guy as well. That way the need for this conversation deminishes. Peace and love the motivation, music the celebration of this. Fest.
No Debbie, I didn’t know the 12 and under rule also applied to camping. This actually makes the issue a lot less difficult to mitigate with a change in policy down to 2 TP/WF max camping passes … since two thirds of all (underage) offspring are already accounted for.
I think providing an automatic “family inclusion” policy by allowing an uncontested placement at the box office of wristbands on teens aged 13-17/18 who are accompanied by a parent who has a TP/WF camping pass for an additional fee would be relatively manageable from PB’s perspective. As far as “kids” who are 18+ … well not sure how to put this without ruffling any more feathers, but I simply don’t think it should be a “deal breaker” for an older family and should be considered in a similar light as a group of 4 great friends who weren’t lucky enough to all get TP/WF tickets.
All I’m getting at here is that reduction in max allowed tickets per person/household is clearly an industry standard to combat scalping and promote wider access to high demand events. PB recognizes this by having a (4 ticket) max in the first place. PB has also implemented a stricter 2 ticket max for certain nightgrass venues. So, it’s clearly not something I’m pulling in from left field.
We lost the lottery. It is good to hear I have a chance of scoring a ticket to TP. I was considering not going for a day and what a bad day! Thank you for the encouragement :peace
My wife and I started coming to TBF years before we were married (and we were married in 1991) and continued to come through the years when our children were infants, toddlers, teens and next summer they will be 18 and 20 years old. Through those years we camped together although the last several times were in WF rather than TP and we camped in groups with other families.
Interesting to see the posts about “family camping” though. Where is that? Would hate to see a limit of 2 tickets. We need 4 now the kids are not little any more to enjoy a family tradition. I hope to go with my grandchildren some day!

I also would hate a lower maximum. Some of us need 4 just to consider getting the pilgrimage going each year. :drive (1300 miles one way and yes, shut out for the first time this year)
After camping (and having a blast!) in Town Park for the Ride Festival, I decided to try the lottery this year. Won on my 1st try since the 30th annual which I lost. Got 4 tix. Once I lock up the date, I may have 2 extras.

I was at the ride also, and while I don’t think the music compared to TBF (by and large), I did find it to be more relaxing in a few respects. Just for the record: judging by the continued high support for the TBF, I don’t believe the ride had any discernable affect on the big demand for TBF. Who’d a thunk it?

Well after 20 years in a row at Grey Fox (Winterhawk) I’ll be flying into Denver on Tue evening and driving to Telluride…
So if we arrive at 11 am what will Warner Field be like?
Will we be able to wedge between two camps?
BTW - the friend has never been farther then 4 hours from home, Newtown ,CT…and only to two days of Grey Fox in ten years…!
They don’t let you set up in Warner Field until Wednesday morning, so you should be fine. People do line up before they open the gate, although it always looks like there’s plenty of room even for those who don’t line up.
Some years it has been Tuesday that they open the Warner gates. It depends on when the last ball game before the festival is. The past few years it has been Wednesday, but a few years before that it was always on Tuesday.
Just an FYI for planning purposes:
Warner Field will open on Wednesday again this year.

I’m also a Minneapolitan - went to T-ride 2008-09-10-11 & moved back to MN in 2011… Haven’t spent more than a few minutes on the board again after a long hiatus… but! I am quite probably going to get on the road and go again this year and thought i’d at least reach out to say kudos, neighbor! and also to possibly chat about the midwest pilgrimages happening.
also, while I’m here, and have no time to get aquanted with a more appropriate place to post this (ie: midwest forum)- shout out about seeing bluegrass this week… cuz I am just so excited: Sawed Off String Band @kitty cat klub tomorrow/ Kind Country at Harriet Brewing thursday & of course, RAILROAD EARTH!
