New Grass Revival

wow, New Grass Revival reunion. I cant even imagine how cool that would be!

Awsome… :thumbsup

Festivallink promises to release the music soon, called the 20th Anniversary Jam led by Sam…And they noted the brief NGR reunion.

The reason I offered the opinion that any real reunion would likely come at one of Craig’s festival, i.e., Telluride or Rockygrass, was simply based on Sam’s history with Craig and these festivals. If Sam were going to do the ultimate reunion up right, with a full set of music - or at least what a lot of us aging Festivarians think would be the ultimate reunion - I think it would be for Craig, if Craig wanted it. Sam’s been reluctant to do this in the past, and he may still be since he doesn’t choose to live in the past and JUST recycle old songs from the NGR songbook. But their appearance together might represent a thaw in that position, maybe for a one-shot deal.

I know I was glad I was there for this taste of it !!!

Hi Luanna, I like the one of you upside down! Steve S, the mad prof

It would be rad if they played again. :thumbsup

Not to worry, Bryan Sutton could pick up the slack! He can do ANYTHING!!

Ok… I have a small question. Is there anywhere on the net that one could download some NGR? I’ve looked around a bit and can’t find anything. I’d really love to hear a bit if theres anything out there…as I never had the privilege of seeing them. I was really only turned onto to bluegrass about 4-5 yrs ago… I might have to pick me up some studio stuff just to educate the head :thumbsup

There are lots of New Grass Revival shows floating around and i am guessing that they are out ther for download. However, NGR CDs are still being sold at your nearby CD store, if you can’t find the dowloads. (someone will likely post a link for a download though)

LuAnna

There’s a lot of information and links to downloads in the “Show Traders / Tapers” section of the board. Some of those sites have Newgrass shows.
There’s also some stuff available on my site. :cheers

thanks for the heads up Tom…and LuAnna gonna go shoppin tomorrow…It’ll make for good listening on the way out…When I’ll have plenty of time to kill :thumbsup

Man, that was some philosophic chit mon! How you know all dat stuff?

Lets just say Truly knows Sam
:cheers

I’ve heard the same thing - that Sam holds the key. I remember a Bela workshop at Elks Park a few years ago and when Bela was taking questions, someone asked if there would ever by an NGR reunion. Bela’s answer was “well, that isn’t up to me. I’d be up for it” or something to that effect. So, if Bela is in, and we know Johnny C would be in (why not, right?) and if Pat Flynn is up for it, then Sam must be the one who isn’t quite ready for it. Let’s cross our fingers, pray to Craig, and not put any pressure on Sam. If he does it, it has to be because he wants it, not because we bugged him to do it.

But I agree that if it happens, it’ll be on a Planet Bluegrass stage. That would just be too dang much…

Does anyone here remember the ORIGINAL New Grass Revival? Of course Courtney is now pickin’ in heaven, but Curtis is still around. Sam, John, Curtis Burch, and Courtney Johnson (Dr. Dobro).
Seems like most of you only know them with Pat and Bela. I have all the OLD music and a lot of OLD photos, but I doubt they can be downloaded. Plus, I have all those memories that keep me smilin’ and coming back every year! :thumbsup

Are Ya"ll aware that this actually happened at Merle Fest 2007, for at least one song? I’m pretty sure other folks were on stage at the time, but it happened all the same!

If I’m correct our own Ms. LuAnna was there to see and hear it all.

Auntie Hope :pickin

Yes I do remember the original :medal :medal
