OK - here’s a suggestion. From Ron and my’s conversation, it’s assumed that Fryer Dave is bringing the burners, propane, pots, oil, and 12 turkeys (Dave orders fresh turkeys for the Turkey Fry and injects the birds with all different kinds of sauces before frying… he’s even used my wing sauce ). Anyway… it’ a big expense, and I bet what’s put in the tip-jar falls short of covering the cost of Fryer Dave’s Bird-Feed. See if Fryer Dave will give us a list of things to bring, we can split-up and spread-out the cost, so it’s easy on Dave’s pocket-book. Plus it will give folks the oppurtunity to help-out on a big event… just my 2-cents worth.
You might want to verify all that with Dave. I thought he sold his burners and pots (to Ron maybe?) a few years ago. I should have plenty of propane around to handle whatever we need.
Ok Brother Dave aka Boulder Dave aka Fryer Dave has agreed to bringing back the Turkey Fry that he and Patti and Joe started years ago …so here is what we have so far
Thursday June 21st …All Day Event …Telluride Toms , Town Hall Camp
12 Bird Fry , 2 or 3 burners , Since this is the opening Day of Festival unfortunately its only open to Townpark/Warner Field and Planet Staff
Thats what we have so far …so we may be looking for contributors for Birds , Peanut Oil
Dave will be Fry Master with Karlos and I Helping
I have plenty of Propane for the Turkey fry, just tell me how many bottles to bring. There is also a few syringes around here with very large needles for saucing. I could try to cash in on my catering contacts to get oil wholesale if we need it. Let me know
If we do it in Town Hall we will need a couple of volunteers to help with the aftermath clean up. I bbqued a brined turkey last year and it was wonderful. The mess it made of the kitchen was epic, nothin we can’t handle. Just feed us moonshine and bring some clean towels :eek :eek
Thank you, O Kaptain my Kaptain. That sounds like a perfect, easy solution. Gotta keep it easy because senses slow down once the imbibing starts!! :flower
I’m down with participating on Turkey Day. I live close so I could bring perishables or something. Or I could whip up a vat of mashed potatoes or something. Nothing that requires too much time, though, as I’ll be so excited by that point that I’ll be practicing the tarp run once an hour and will only have a small window in between to cook stuff. Just lemme know and I’ll make it happen! :flower
Ron, T-Tom, Boulder Dave and I are still working out the Turkey Fry details… stay tuned… we’ll have more information soon.
Kaptain Karlos :wave
P.S. The Turkey Fry has, in the past, just been deep-fried turkey carved-up on the table for folks to feast on. No fixins. Festival folks just stop by, throw a few bucks in the tip-bucket and chow-down. But, I’m not against changing things… I love fixin’s :quote
