Is this thing happening

Thanks for sharing that.

There is a current proposal to the state (CO) to amend restrictions for venues brought by the Colorado Independent Venues Association. It was published last week that Red Rocks has submitted to the CO Health Dept. for a permit for up to 2,500 this Spring + more in the summer, assuming the right metrics keep trending the way they are. There’s also a proposal to allow venues to operate at 50% of capacity starting in April, with no cap on the max # of concert goers. Venues would still have to maintain social distancing with groups, but Colorado would eliminate the hard cap on attendance. As of TODAY, Telluride is in Yellow, which says 50% capacity or 175 attendees for outdoor events, whichever is less. However, outdoor AND indoor events under this stage are eligible for site-specific variances through the local public health agency.

If CO moves ahead with this proposal, the capacity limit would rise from 50% to 60% in May and potentially as high as 80% by July. The mandatory distance between parties could also drop from 6 ft to 3 ft over the summer, if enough people have been vaccinated. Gov. Polis said in a presser on Friday that the general population of CO will be eligible for the vaccine BY May!
Seems like great news for RockyGrass + FolksFestival.

Of course, all locations vary based on their numbers, but I did think it was a good sign that the British government “set out a roadmap that, as things stand, would see the re-opening of large music events in the UK, with no audience limit, on June 21.” The world is making a comeback…slowly

For those in the unknown about when you’ll be eligible to get a vaccine. If you have a CDIB card affiliated with any Federally recognized tribe, then the Cherokee Nation hospitals in NEOK are accepting appointments now for 18+. Call Claremore Indian Hospital for info. 918-342-6580

Claremore is 30 minutes Northeast of Tulsa, ok.

I found it nice to hear Polis stating yesterday that CO summer should be “very close to normal” - still a ways to go to overcome the virus, but an encouraging sign on top of Biden’s statement about how much vaccine we’ll have available by May. Telluride seems to be right in that grey area of time thats a little uncertain. Seeing a lot of July-Oct. festivals come back online, so we’ll see. I know from the Telluride Council meeting notes from last Spring that PB was open to moving dates back in 2020. Wonder if there are any discussions of pushing back the festival date to Aug/Sept this year or if PB would rather keep it to a small series of weekend shows in June like they had mentioned a few weeks ago. OR if there is even any consideration of holding the festival with a capped attendance in supplement to masks + vaccinated attendees. Things seem to be panning out a little bit clearer since PB released their last statement via email last week, so I certainly look forward to seeing how things pan out. Cautiously optimistic for better times ahead.

Things are moving quickly

Really appreciate you forwarding the article, thanks. We saved our tickets from last year, hoping that will guarantee a spot in that first weekend, whenever it is.

The only trouble with that is the limited occupancy will restrict the number of campers in Town Park as well, so there’s some logistics to be worked out in that regard as well.
Anything is better than nothing at this point. :flower

Agreed, anything better than nothing. They mention 2,500 would be maximum, I wonder if they did it over 2-3 weekends with 2,500 each weekend, if it could work. Logistical issues there would be working it out with the bands, and keeping using TP for 2-3 straight weekends, where as it usually has some event or another utilizing the space every weekend that time of year. Oh well, things are looking up at least :cheers

anything is better than nothing is my thought as well! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Has anyone heard are these weekends going to be for those that rolled tickets over, or will there be all new ticket sales. Personally I don’t think the full ticket value equals a weekend with limited capacity and without 4 full days of music. But for us it’s way more than just the music. Its the community. Spending 10 days in Telluride without driving! Having time for hikes, rides and pre-fest fun. Then capped off with a full weekend of the best music. I’m ranting, so I’ll stop. I look forward till the day we ALL are back for a full Telluride! :cheers

I think they’re still trying to figure out what might work. I suspect the answer to your question is dependent upon what general direction they proceed. They talk about it briefly on KOTO news yesterday (3/12/21):

1st scenario: TBF will take place over the solstice weekend with a capacity AT OR GREATER than 3,000/day. TBF would still need to comply with county, state, & town public health orders.

2nd scenario: assuming 3,000 people cannot gather safely → 2 smaller events, less than 3,000 attendees/day over 2 weekends, June 11-13th & 17-20th. Music would run from 3-10:30 PM or 5 to 10:30 pm depending on the day. Telluride parks and rec. commission + Telluride commission community assistance arts/special events would need to approve scenario 2 as if differs from current approval. If approved, PB must make their decision by MID APRIL. Telluride parks and rec. commission will discuss this on Wed. march 17th at noon via zoom. The meeting is open to public and the public will be able to share input.

TBD…

For 2021 TBF

A percentage of tickets will be sold only to Telluride locals and purchase priority will be offered to ticket holders who postponed their 2020 tickets. Seems to be about 2,559 tickets up for grabs at current conditions. Things can change.

Patrons will have the ability to purchase tickets to a 10’ x 10’ square, delineated in
the festival field, called a corral. Corrals are only to be shared by members of a
family or “exposure group” who have made the decision to travel and visit together.
When a corral is reserved, the reserving party must purchase a minimum of four
tickets. After the first four tickets have been purchased, additional tickets to each
corral can be purchased independently by the reserving party, up to a maximum of
eight.

other proposed changes:
no Warner field or Elks park.
no Nightgrass shows.
no tarp run.

PB would take over TP camping Wednesday, June 9 – Monday, June 21(3 additional days than usual)

Discussed tomorrow will be:

Move to approve (or deny) the request by Planet Bluegrass for Use of a
Portion of Town Park for Additional Telluride Bluegrass Festival Dates of Friday, June 11,
Saturday, June 12, and Sunday, June 13, 2021 for a Minor Festival Event on June 11 – 13 and
17 – 20, 2021 with the following conditions:

  1. Approval of the proposed minor festival event is for year 2021 only.
  2. Approval of the proposed minor festival event does not impact historic major festival
event venue approvals (facilities, curfews, etc.) in year 2022 and beyond.
  3. Bluegrass Festival shall decide by April 15, 2021 between the following two scenarios:
    a. The existing approval for a major festival event on Bluegrass’ historical weekend,
June 17 – 20, with a TBD capacity greater than 3,000 persons per day (capacity
shall comply with State public health regulations and be approved by the Town
    and County Public Health).
    b. A proposed one year only modification for a minor festival event (less than 3,000
    persons per day) on June 11 – 13 & June 17 - 20 (if approved by CCAASE).
  4. Bluegrass Festival compliance with all State, County, and local public health regulations
    at the time.
  5. Town reserves the sole and absolute right to control the Telluride Town Park and to
either permit or cancel the Telluride Bluegrass Festival at any point.

The bar will be operated remotely by Telluride Bluegrass Beer
Booth, Inc., delivering food and drink to patron’s corrals. A QRCode attached to each corral can be scanned using the patron’s
phone, which will take them to an online menu where food and
drinks can be ordered from the bar. Payments and tips will be
made via credit card through app and bar staff will deliver the
order to the corral.Order fulfillment will operate out of five 20x20 tents along the west side of the field.
Orders will be directed to the nearest fulfillment center where staff will pack them
and send them out for delivery.
All drinks will be served in cans to increase speed, prevent spills, and reduce the
chance of germs getting into open air drinks. Food will be cooked by independent vendors selected by Planet Bluegrass and
delivered to corrals utilizing the bar’s infrastructure. Food offerings will be limited to a
select few vendors to maintain rapid delivery speeds. All vendors will cook from the
backstage catering area and food will be transported to bar fulfillment centers.

Keep in mind, this is all tentative & things could change.

So are they discussing the possibility of the campground being open for 13 days for ticketholders? That’s a long time to go without clean underwear. But room for plenty of jam sessions.

Ha! Yep!

Here’s the only thing that worries me:

“No Town Park”

From the current understanding, town park camping (including the back part, bear creek) will be open for camping as usual. Both camping areas normally have a 600 person camping capacity. the memo did not say they would reduce capacity for camping.

TELLURIDE PARKS AND REC. COMMISSION MTG 03/17/21 -12 PM

Commission voted 4-1 to approve the request by Planet Bluegrass for Use of a
Portion of Town Park for Additional Telluride Bluegrass Festival Dates of Friday, June 11,
Saturday, June 12, and Sunday, June 13, 2021 for a Minor Festival Event on June 11 – 13 and
17 – 20, 2021 with the conditions listed earlier in the post.

Craig & the rest of PB now need approval from the Commission for Community Assistance, Arts & Special Events, which meets on April 7th.

If approved, PB will need to make their decision by April 15th to give town enough time to adequately prepare.

personal notes:
looks like the big acts will be back on board for 2021 as of course, TBF is their bucket list festival each year. Still unsure of rest of the line-up. Craig did mention he doesn’t really expect to have attendance over 2,500 for this year.

Thanks for all the great updates, wishing all my fellow beloved Festivarians a wonderful time.

Our country is still locked up, no international travel unless it’s an emergency so I guess I will be sitting this one out. Rolled over my TP camping from last year but I guess something will work out.

Go forth and enjoy the music, my heart is with everyone.

I miss you all very much.
