The album that really got me into the boyswas Handguns. Now, after having listened to all of their work numerous times, my current ranking is (in terms of what I would choose if I could only pick one to play):
Five Interstates
If Sorrows Swim
Handguns
Shouted
Tuesday Letter
Do we even dare to continue this discussion by ranking the top 5 Greensky songs? Ok, let’s get nuts with it!
All Four
Old Barns
Atlantic City (yes, yes, a cover but man oh man)
Can’t Make Time
Kerosene
(ok, that was tough and that list most likely will change a few days from now)
seriously indeed. lose my way is def top 5 for me
i haven’t spun the new cd enough yet but…
top songs
leap year
into the rafters
cold feet
lose my way
burn them
cds:
if sorrow swims
handguns
5 interstates
tuesday letter
i always LOL at how messed up my sorrow swims cd is
the song titles don’t match what the ipod plays…
its seriously messed up and i think they did it on purpose!
and paul signs my handguns cds upside down! WTF!
when all the other kats did it the right way…paul’s a card!
You guys are so cute! You would think we are talking about Dylan or the Beatles…or heaven forbid The Grateful Dead! Obviously you have way too much time on your hands now that festival season is over! :lol :pirate
I have NEVER felt this way about a band since I was a kid and worshipped The Monkees. Seriously. I’m besotted. I pretty much fly from Australia every year to see them. I don’t know why they have gotten under my skin so much. The music is great, the band members are fantastic but actually I think it is the camaraderie of the GSBG campers that does it. We are family…
Billy - I love this project! But I will have to return to it. Too much to assess and I don’t want to get it wrong.
As for the covers, Atlantic City would be in my favorite songs that the boys do, and Working on a Building. Maybe I just need to make a list of the top 5 songs that melt my face/heart when heard live?
After realizing I could probably choose a top five song list just off Five Interstates I decided I needed a tune off the new album, I’m really digging Merely Avoiding. And speaking of the Warfield I happen to be listening to this soundboard recording right now, top notch sounding acoustic GD, highly recommend!
Here’s my list. I couldn’t pick 5, so I made it 10. Originals only, in no particular order:
Bring out your dead
I’d probably kill you
Hoxeyville
Against the Days
All four
Worried about the Weather
Windshield
Past my prime
Merely Avoiding
Reverend
Favorite Covers:
Working on a building
Atlantic City
Breadbox
God I love this band. By the end of the year, I’ll be up to 37 shows. :love
I’m totally jealous. 37 shows…how great would that be. I’ve only seen them four times…but they changed my life.
Love your list. I’m having a great time getting to know the back catalogue. Just discovered Handguns. This weekend I’m putting Tuesday Letter on rotation. So good. God I love them too
