This video was linked from the NY Times obituary – a wonderful video of Doc, Merle, Earl Scruggs and Randy Scruggs and (I think?) Gary Scruggs picking on “John Hardy”. All of 'em young.
Man, we’ve lost some greats the past couple months.

Listened to Doc on the way into work this morning…it’s so true, you don’t miss your water till your well runs dry! RIP Doc and thanks for bringing the music home to my soul! :pirate
R.I.P Doc Watson. And thank you, Planet Bluegrass, for several fantastic opportunities to see Doc play on your stages.
With the passing of so many Bluegrass Legends it is important for our young progressive Bluegrass players to remember and honor this raw, traditional type of Bluegrass. Holdin the line for our Icons in Bluegrass. Doc will stand the test of time for many many years to come we will speak his name and hear his voice. I will never forget him and I am lucky to have seen and heard him live. RIP Doc and Thank you. :cheers
Nice Tom, and thanks ZA. :flower
I’m listening to Doc today, but it got me wondering, what are your favorite Doc albums. I’m kind of partial to the original Doc Watson, Three Pickers, and Docabilly, then there are just so many best ofs…
Don’t be sad, for Doc it’s just the next level of life. Rejoice he had a wonderful life filled with love and music. A special light that many of us got to see. Not to often one person can effect so many in a good way and all at once. :flower
