David Byrne?

:thumbsup
I totally agree that the David Byrne set was one of the finest sets I’ve seen in my years at Telluride. I was looking forward to it, but never expected the amazing show we got. I usually go up to Run-a-Muck for the last set, but stayed down front for this one and am so glad that I did. Major kudos to Craig and Steve for bringing them.

And, who out there can claim to be in the kind of shape those folks are in. And at almost 9,000 feet with no air!!!

Byrne's set was clearly unique and the music was well done and great overall, but I found one thing missing in Byrne's set for me: spontaneity!

Spontaneity?! Really? See, I thought his set was full of it. The random dancers were absolutly full of it! You have to be crazy!

From what I recall

I Zimbra
Life During Wartime
Heaven
Houses In Motion
Great Curve
Crosseyed and Painless
Take me to the River
Born under punches

SICK NASTY

Also

Once in a Lifetime and Burning Down the House

He played a similar set at Bonnaroo - we got most of the same songs in Telluride, but in a different order…
This might feed your Jones while we wait for the TBF set to get seeded.

Thanks, Bevin, for that link. Downloading right now.

The funniest thing I witnessed was on friday morning in Maggies where I guy who clearly hadnt stayed for David Byrne tried to bullshit a conversation with a lady while pretending he had. Sad sap.

If all the people who claimed to have seen it had actually been there, there would have been a crowd of about 20,000 :lol :lol :lol

It was a cool fantastic set.

Hear for yourself…

SWEET!!! :thumbsup :cheers

I was in the clouds for weeks after seeing this show!! It was hands down, the COOLEST thing I have ever seen! When, on the THIRD encore, they did Burning Down the House, I said, “That’s it, put a fork in me, burn down the stage, I have seen it all, we can all go home now.” I was scared for Gaelic Storm, because I didn’t know them… how would they be able to step up to the plate after this HUGE eye-candy that was David Byrne??? Oh man! They did it just right, and there I was, having an amazing time and dancing my pants off! Damn fine festival 2009:)
