Clothing/shoes to Pack??

Bring a couple of really fluffy old beach towels, drape them over your cooler, and keep them damp. You’ll be amazed at how much longer your ice will last.

:peace

Sounds good, thanks for the info!

We are always thinking green and do a lot of composting and recycling at home, been saving cans all winter to pay for gas (driving from NC). We will be bringing reusable plates, etc. Just got a nice big shade tent a few weeks ago for our spring camping in the Blue ridge.

All the extra info on this forum makes it so much easier to plan a two week trip living out of the car! Thanks to all!!!..hope I can finish my kitchen remodel before we leave!

One more question for now…Does Illium have a sufficient amount of picnic tables or should we plan on bringing a cook table etc?

I’m not entirely sure if they have any picnic tables. I’ve never camped near one anyway.

The only time I’ve had a problem with bugs was when the preserve first opened up and they were disturbed, and this was after a particularly wet winter, such as the one we are still having. If you can bring a pump spray or roll-on or even the towelettes they now make would be much better than a can that puts those evil CFCs into the air. Those citronella wristbands work pretty good too.
Unless it starts warming up soon, bugs may not be an issue at all, because it’s hard to bite through a down coat. :eek

Yea I’m pretty sure they don’t have any tables at Illium . You’ll have to bring one if you want a table.

Thanks thats great to know for cooking etc!
