James Keelaghan or Richard Schindell's “Dodge?” What is the name of the song?
The name of the song is Cold Missouri Waters. The version I prefer is found on the self-titled album from the group called Cry, Cry, Cry, which consists of Richard Schindell, Dar Williams & Lucy Kuplanski.
FYI - I’ll add any songs that have the lyrics posted here. I’m obsessing on other things and can’t search for lyrics. Happy to assemble/create the sing along.

Yesterday, on the Bluegrass Express with the Old Man, he played the The Hot Strings’ bluegrass rendition of Frampton’s “Do You Feel.” In fact, the more I hear covers of Frampton’s music, the more I like his songs (I didn’t when they were in the top 40)… think Lisa Bonet in High Fidelity.
When you approach Bluegrass Karaoke from that standpoint, there’s all KINDS of music that would be fun to play/sing. For instance: “Blister in the Sun” or “I Wanna Be Sedated”

As we know by listening to Hayseed Dixie lots music can be bluegrassed. I find that almost any Black Sabbath grasses up very nicely. Get yer voice all High and Lonesome and sing this, fast:

Yes Kym… AWESOME tune! I used to sing it to my daughter every night before she went to sleep. That and “Close to You”, “Tapestry” (which she called “come to take me back”), and “Five Little Pennies.” She now says that she will sing the same four songs to HER children when they are little.
Truthfully… although this may be a bit of an “overshare” in her mind, I still sing them to her from time to time, when she spends the night at my house alone, or when she’s sick… and she’s 18.
Ah Rhonny, you made me mushy inside. :flower I love that you still sing your special songs to your daugther. Some of my earliest memories are of my mama singing to me. Bobby McGee and Stewball among others. And now I get to adventure into discovering some new tunes. Tell me more about “Five Little Pennies” and “Tapestry” is Joni Mitchell yes? We don’t have that one.
“Five Little Pennies” is just about the most awesome song EVER!! I believe it was on the soundtrack of a movie about Red Nichols and the Five Pennies starring Danny Kaye. My Da had all of Red Nichols’ 78’s and my mammo used to say that it was that music that made her fall in love with my Da. Mammo used to sing it to me, and I can still smell the “White Shoulders” she used to wear when I was snuggled up to her. Oh… now I have tears in my eyes! Here are the lyrics, I can teach you the tune in T-Ride if you’d like. Every kid should hear this song growing up, as far as I’m concerned:

BTW - both of my daughters have 5 brand new, uncirculated pennies from the year they were born, that I put in a shadow box and hung in their rooms. My oldest daughter now has it hanging in HER living room. Yet another thing that brings tears to my eyes!
“Tapestry” was actually written by Carole King. It may seem a morose song, but it was one of my youngest daughter’s favorites. I’ll never forget the time that for some reason a different song usurped it’s place in the lineup. After a couple of nights, at about 2 1/2, she just started bellowing “SING HE COME TO TAKE ME BACK!!”… and just sobbed when I couldn’t figure out what song it was. After two nights of this, I FINALLY figured it out, after she was already asleep. I woke that cute child’s butt up at 1 AM and sang that song to her. The look on her little face… oh geez… here come the misty eyes again.

I was checking out Sierra Hull on Youtube and ran into this little clip that has left me… speechless.
I guess it’s proof of statements made earlier in the thread that anything translates to bluegrass… well, almost anything.
It almost makes “Jump” tolerable. Though, for the life of me, even when listening to the bluegrass version, I still can’t get that image of DLR “jumping” in those dead sexy spandex tights… oh yeah! :eek
