Wonder if Neil Young dating Daryl Hannah can bring him to the box canyon finally. Maybe he will come visit her place on Horsefly Mesa with her and be overcome by it like all of us.
Finally got to see the Black Lillies last night and they were incredible! BillyBeru you are spot on with regards to this band. Tons of energy, they were having a blast up there, and they played at least 4 songs that had references to Colorado / or Denver…In fact they mentioned that they “absolutely love OUR mountain lifestyle!” If you get a chance, this band is must see right now! FYI, they have a new album coming out this spring!! Come on PBG, one of you must have seen this show last night in Denver right?? Hope so. If so, then you’d have to agree. Well here’s to hoping that they get added to the lineup
Hey! Glad you enjoyed them. I was there with a whole bunch of festivarians- we were dancing near the area in front of the bar. Still can’t believe the Soiled Dove had tables and chairs on the dance floor.
Yeah, I was wondering as well if PB had some folks there. Well, PB, did you?
I know he’s not NEW but wonder if James McMurtry has ever been to Telluride? This new album sounds interesting (like everything of his I’ve listened to). I bet he’d play well at the festival in the same way Jason Isbell did last year.
Or if you have seen the Showtime documentary of the making of the basement tapes Mr Johnny Depp fills in for Elvis on Going Back to Kansas City!! No shit I’m not kidding :thumbsup
I saw The Last Bison open for GSBG last week and it would be awesome to see them play Telluride. It was actually my second time seeing them as we accidentally stumbled into one of their shows after seeing Noam Pikelny a couple years ago.
NPR called their sound “Classical influenced southern folk rock". I think of it more as Punch Bros. meets Edward Sharpe. Doesn’t make sense to label it, but just trying to give you an idea of what to expect.
