INDEED!
Agreed. I consider The Dusters to be the best band touring at the moment, but I feel Greensky is pushing the genre farther than any other band at their level.
The 40th was incredible with 4 of my 5 favorite bands playing (Sammy, Salmon, GSBG and the Dusters). Let’s see if we can’t make it five for five this year by bringing Head for the Hills back!
How about Ricky Scaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Keller Williams, and maybe David Grisman.
How about we get some Telluride History up in this and bring Bryan Bowers back? After all, he was one of the early yearly performers.
I would really like to see 18 South back again.
YES YES YES!!! They killed it last time. The First Grass show they did is one of my all time highlights.
Seriously, if you manage to see Head for the Hills and don’t want them at Telluride, you’re doing Bluegrass wrong. Those guys just played one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
Chris Jones and the Night Drivers :wave
Danny Paisley and Southern Grass… :flower
Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road. Smokin hot tune , I Heard You Call His Name Last Night… :medal
The Nickel Creek Reunion is Actually Happening!!! New CD out this Spring. Not new but back together again so you might consider them new. I do and hope they join us!
Shakey Graves put on a pretty great show opening for The Devil Makes Three here in Denver last month. An incredible one man show.
Gregory Alan Isakov, Bonnie Raitt, Neko Case, Carolina Chocolate Drops
I’ve fallen in love in Telluride several times…
There was Shawn Colvin…but she never answered my letters…the restraining order expires next year though, so I’m thinking she’s probably dying to hear from me again…you know, update her on every detail of my life in long, rambling letters written on Hostess Fruit Pie wrappers. I’ve been writing them for years…want to see? But I digress…
So after that there was my wife. She’s a good one…I’ll keep her, thank you.
But, I have a confession…I continue to fall in love.
Shawn was replaced by Alison Krauss. But she must be the most careless person ever, 'cause every time I track down her cell #, it gets changed again…I guess she loses her phone a lot or something. I still have the one she dropped when she found me hiding in the bathroom of her tour bus. I tried to give it back, but that gal can haul ass when she’s scared! Never saw her after she hurdled the ball field fence and took off over Warner. I would’ve caught her if I hadn’t tripped when she threw hew bow behind her.
So I’ve had a hole in my heart, and it turns out it just needed a little Aoife O’Donovan to fill it. But I haven’t seen her perform yet live…so she doesn’t know how much she loves me yet. I figure we could fix that if she played TBF 2014. In fact, I’d propose:
Bring back Shawn and Alison, so they can try and woo my heart back from the big stage. Oh, it will be in vain, but it will be fun to watch them squirm as they sing all their deepest love songs direct to me.
Then have Aoife perform with her current band, with Goat Rodeo, and with a very special Crooked Still reunion. When she finds this was all my idea, she’d fall madly in love with me, and the resulting pain when she finds I’m happily married will be the motivation for the songs on her next album, which will win accolades and awards from all genres, launching her into the international spotlight she deserves.
:jester :devil :secret :lol
Huck,
Probably shouldn’t mention this, but during the last AKUS perfornamce, I DID see your wife exchanging phone numbers with Sam Bush. That Cardinals shirt she calls her Sammy Shirt really IS Sammy’s.
:thumbsup
Not sure how many of you caught “Pert Near Sandstone” at the Fly me to The Moon last year but they were great! Ain’t no Liquor in this Town was down right bad ass! Give them a shot at the main stage or Elk’s Park…
I really like Jake Bugg. He’s a young songwriter from Enlgand who I’ve been enjoying recently. Here’s one off his new album.
That was only so Lynn Bush could call Tessa, by the way. Some fundraiser for the kids in the mountains.
Jeff, that was just creepy. I’m so proud to call you friend. :thumbsup
